Frugal Father's Day Gifts

Father’s day is a day to celebrate dad. A time when families gather together and enjoy the many generations of fathers, whether it be dad, grandpa or a close uncle that acts as a father figure to the family. Here a few frugal gift ideas for Dad.

Magazine subscription:

This is an inexpensive yet very enjoyable gift for Dad. Add a bonus note to the subscription stating that Dad will get an hour off every month to read his magazine in peace a quite. This will be such a hit!

For Dads living alone:

If possible, surprise Dad by giving his home a good, thorough cleaning and popping a few meals in his freezer. The clean home and meals will be more than welcome and most likely more appreciated than another tie or work shirt.

Dad’s night out:

Plan a guys night out for your husband. Call his buddies and get them in on the deal. Or if your husband is not the male bonding type, plan a date for the two of you doing one of your husband’s hobbies that you most likely wouldn’t do if it wasn’t a gift such as: paintball, football game, monster truck shows.... or camping.

Children’s presents:

Have the kids draw or write about their favorite activity, the one they enjoy doing with their dad the most.

Frame drawings and/or put the letters in a folder. This is a great present as well as a keepsake.

The "Hand Print" Poem is also a big hit!  Have kids make their handprints with paint on a piece of construction paper then add this poem.  Laminate for safe keeping for many years.

Hands for Daddy

Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But every day I'm growing ...
I'll be grown-up someday,
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away.
So here's a final handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small.

Feed Dad

Cook his favorite meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Frugal Fanatic Tip:

Give dad the afternoon off. Feed him his favorite lunch, then pack up the kids and go out for a few hours. It’s hard to balance work, family and everything else that life throws our way. Dads will love a few hours of non-interrupted time to vegetate, work or watch a game.
