Gluten Free Chia Seed Flour – A Visitor’s Tip that may be useful for baby’s baked goods.
Jun 29, 2008 Allergies, Forbidden Foods
There is a flour product made by a company called Nuchia Foods. They have a Chia Seed Flour that also has some organic brown rice flour in it. It bakes really well. Great if you are gluten free. I have tried it in red velvet cake, cookies and bread. The results were good.
Because it has Chia seed flour in it is also off the chart on the nutrition scale. They are in some stores in Florida, but I found them on the net. nuchiafoods.com, this may work for babies.
Please be aware that we at wholesomebabyfood.com do not endorse or recommend this product for babies. We thought we would post about this so that parents (and those kids) who are living with Gluten Intolerance or Celiac’s Disease might do some research and see if this product is a viable option! If anyone has experience with this product, please let us know!

Jun 25, 2008 New Baby Food Recipes, gadgets and gizmos
Woo Hoo! The awesome
Cuisinart Frozen Yogurt/Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker is only $49.95 at Cooking.com!
If you have never made yogurt, you will be amazed at how easy it is! We have a page dedicated to How to Make Your Own Yogurt that you might wish to check out!
And once you have made your own yogurt, try making your own frozen yogurt with this nifty machine. Frozen yogurt makes a very healthy and soothingly cool treat on hot summer days! Yogurt is recommended for babies from 8 months and older however many pediatricians do suggest yogurt as a first food for the 6 month old baby. Learn about Introducing Yogurt to Your Baby and why it’s NOT considered part of the “No Dairy Until Baby is 12 Months Old” rule.
Here is an example recipe from the Cooking.com website. See how easy it is! You can skip the sugar if you wish and even add some fruits too!
Vanilla Frozen Yogurt
Servings – Makes about fourteen 1/2-cup servings
Ingredients
1-2/3 cups whole milk
3/4 cups granulated sugar
4 cups fat-free vanilla yogurt (use your own homemade yogurt!)
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
In a medium mixing bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed to combine the milk and granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 to 2 minutes.
Stir in the yogurt, heavy cream, and vanilla. Turn the machine on; pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let mix until thickened, about 20 to 25 minutes.
The frozen yogurt will have a soft, creamy texture. If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the frozen yogurt to an airtight container and place in freezer for about 2 hours.
Remove from freezer about 15 minutes before serving.
Now I’m hungry!
