Creamy Quinoa Apple Baby Food Recipe
Sep 23, 2008 Baby Food Recipes Updated, New Baby Food Recipes
Quinoa is a wonderfully healthy, nutritious and versatile grain. It’s easy to cook and fun to use to make all sorts of tasty dishes. When you first cook quinoa, you may be surprised at it’s texture and appearance. Quinoa will turn from white to clear and will appear to have spawned spirals; this is exactly as it should be so don’t panic!
For this yummy recipe, we use apples, yogurt and quinoa. Here’s how:
Cook the Quinoa – To cook the Quinoa use
1 cup quinoa
1 1/2 cups water (use 2 cups for a more mushy type texture – expirement!)
In a large pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add the 1 cup of quinoa
Cover the pot, reduce heat and simmer approximately 15 minutes or until liquid has been absorbed. Let stand for five minutes and then “fluff” a bit.
After fluffing, add 1/2 cup of applesauce/apple puree and 1/2 cup of plain whole milk yogurt. Stir to combine well – serve warm. Use applesauce & yogurt as you like – more or less depending on the final texture you want!
